Throughout his two decades of experience, Brad has delivered hundreds of dream homes across the country. When another log home manufacturer pushed us in the direction of a canned plan and standard kit, we knew it was time to search elsewhere. With a decade’s worth of questions and ideas and blueprints in tow (yes, actual blueprints, like from yester-year), we made our way to Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes in Middleburg, PA to meet with Corporate Sales Manager, Brad Mercer.

Brad was patient and extremely knowledgeable. From that initial meeting, he really took the time to listen to the ideas April and I had to share. Brad answered our many questions, showed us pictures to help us envision, made recommendations about ways to achieve our specific wants and needs, and ultimately served as the catalyst for our dream log home.
As a business owner, I would have a hard time finding three years to service a client without any guarantee of obtaining the sale. But Brad did this without hesitation.

Lynda Tompkins (business owner) was there to help as well. From our unique design to the final quality products, we truly feel we got everything we wanted and everything we needed in this home because of Timberhaven. In fact, people come from all over the place who claim they know someone who knows someone else who told them about our home. Families have shown up to have their portraits taken on our porch or to see the soaring fireplace that April’s dad built. I guess you could say we have an open-door policy for anyone who wants to see what all the fuss is about. In the end, we will show our home to whomever wants to see it. Afterall, it feels good to show off 13 years of planning.

In 2013 I contacted Brad Mercer at Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes. I approached them initially because of their local presence and reputation. I met Brad Mercer one evening after hours. I simply walked into their office, and we started discussing my goals/plans and my ideas. He was very accommodating, and we seemed to hit it off right from the very beginning. He was very knowledgeable and professional. Being in sales myself, I definitely respected him for that.

We started to work on design concepts and again he was very accommodative to me and to my ideas. Before too long we had a great design with a quality materials package and a concept that truly reflected my needs, wants and desires.

I never felt pressured and every time I asked about a new idea I had or wanted, he did exactly what I ask. When we finished the project it turned out bigger and better than what anyone would have dreamed of. It was featured in two national log home magazines and was also voted the reader’s choice award for best log homes. Since then, a 3-D virtual tour was launched, and a drone video was taken and can be seen on Timberhaven’s website.

We even planned, so that if I wanted to add on in the future, we really wouldn’t disrupt anything that was already in place. It was a real pleasure working with Brad and Timberhaven, and I would highly encourage anyone who is thinking about a log home project to contact Brad. I never had any issues, but I always felt that he had my back and would go out of his way to make things right if I did. That’s always a good thing to have in your back pocket.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am taking a few moments to describe the experience my husband and I have had in our adventure in building our log home.

We had always dreamed of having a log home, built upon the site where our home now sits. This dream began about 25 years ago. Raising children and working full time, overtime, etc., etc. got in the way of this dream until last year when we found ourselves finally in a position to build our dream home.

Upon my husband’s request, we decided to visit Timberhaven Log and Timber Homes and met with Sales Manager Brad Mercer. I knew the minute we walked in that Timberhaven was the place for us from the smell of the fresh wood to Brad’s welcoming and helpful demeanor.

We broke ground in April, 2016; our home was delivered the following May. And construction began! It was a dream finally coming true! We worked hard all summer along with the construction crew sanding, staining, etc.

However, by September our plans took a drastic change for the worse when our builder suddenly died. At that time, I had visions of us shoveling an early October snow out of our house with no roof!

But when October arrived, we had found another builder who has been a savior to us. His meticulous style, strong work ethic and vast building knowledge put us back on track and we were able to move in two months ago.

Even though construction is finished, the cars continue to drive by slowly, visitor’s jaws drop in awe when touring the inside and it still seems like a dream.

My purpose in this letter is to thank everyone at Timberhaven, especially those directly involved with our construction, from people answering the phone and fielding our calls to those who visited the site to manage deliveries, but most importantly to recognize Brad Mercer, who holds a special place in our hearts, as the gem and asset to your company that he truly is. Without him, and his guidance and compassionate caring in the bumps along the way, our dream would have never been realized. In him, we have found much more than a business partner; we have found a true friend. We are eternally grateful to all of you.

We would not hesitate to highly recommend Brad and Timberhaven to anyone considering building a log home. Your company is the facilitator of dreams come true.

Owning a timber porch has always been a lifelong dream of ours. John and I reached out to Brad Mercer and the team from Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes to help make that dream come true.
