Owning a timber porch has always been a lifelong dream of ours. John and I reached out to Brad Mercer and the team from Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes to help make that dream come true. Brad made the entire process so easy from planning to delivery. We were truly amazed. We gave him our measurements of what we were looking for. He sat with us and showed us everything he had to offer from designs to colors to even taking us for a tour in the workshop and showing us models of timber porches to look at. We never felt pressured, and he answered every question we asked. The entire experience was so smooth from beginning to delivery, and we were beyond satisfied. John was able to do the porch himself (with help from a few friends) and it went up without a problem. It is just perfect!!!! It really makes the front of our house absolutely beautiful!!!

Thank you for everything, Timberhaven. Even on the worst of days, stepping into the great room takes all the stress away! Amazing!

Words cannot describe what an extraordinary Timberhaven log home I have!  It is a Modified Aspen Hill built with Timberhaven’s 6×8 Engineered Logs with the Dovetail corner assembly.  My log home is 2,180 square feet and features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  A small mudroom connects my lovely log home to the 2-car attached garage.  And in the basement, where my 10 parrots now reside, there is an additional kitchen, bathroom with walk-in-shower, and media room.  My Timberhaven log home was completed in October 2018, and I moved in shortly thereafter.  David Calder, my builder and master craftsman, did an incredible job on the construction of my dream log home.

As with all new construction, there were a few minor hiccups and a lot of rain delays. But, being patient paid off. I am in my new Timberhaven log home now, feeling very happy, safe and secure.  Enjoying my morning coffee in the gorgeous sun room or outside under the covered front porch, watching the sunrise over the mountains is a great way to start the day. The flexibility that Timberhaven had given me with the design, made this the perfect log home to enjoy my ‘retirement’ years.

I highly recommend Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes as the designer and manufacturer for your dream log home.  I also highly recommend David Calder if you’re considering building in the vicinity of Southeast Tennessee.  Log homes are these folks’ passion, and I know they would just love to supply/build a log home for you, too.  I am the second person in our small community to have one of Timberhaven’s beautiful log homes and couldn’t be more proud.

Our timber frame home is built with kiln-dried timbers that were pre-cut and pre-notched so that assembly onsite was seamless. It is amazing to look around and see the mortise and tenon joinery that is holding our house together, solidly and beautifully.  The aging process and longevity of these timbers are the most stunning, in addition to abundant natural beauty it provides to our family now and for decades to come.

During the design process, we took our time to think about all scenarios. Perfection takes time, and we didn’t rush it. And we weren’t afraid to make changes. We encourage you to do the same.

As far as material selections, there were plenty of material package choices provided to us. If Timberhaven didn’t have what we were looking for, they easily found it or provided an alternative, similar option.  Timberhaven also offered the most competitive pricing for our quality timber frame home package.

Ultimately, we have built our forever home to raise our three sons and could not have chosen a better, more beautiful house to fit our plan. We are more than happy with our Timberhaven timber frame home and look forward to it being part of our lives and future generations to come.

What a wonderful seminar and great group of workers/owners at Timberhaven. I love their energy, team spirit and commitment. I have worked with Ben Pittman from Big Sky Log Homes on building many Timberhaven log houses – even before Timberhaven, Ben and I built Kuhns Brothers log homes for quite a while. The laminated (aka Engineered) log idea was probably one of the most ingenious engineering feats in the industry. The logs are much straighter, there are very few checks – if any at all – and they are a lot straighter which results in less fight to get the logs to line up and so on. One of the other things I have noticed that because the log are compressed under pressure, they seem to be harder which, in turn, when drilling holes for electrical, leaves a cleaner hole and less splintering at both ends. As a builder, this makes my job easier.  I am hoping we get to build a few more Timberhaven log homes in the future.

In our process to find a reputable company, we talked to over a dozen different companies. As you can imagine, some folks just flat out lied about their product, and/or getting information from them was like pulling teeth. Our experience with Dean Gass (rep in NY) was just the opposite. This was one of the best business experiences I’ve ever had, especially considering we ended up not making the purchase. In the future, I will surely recommend Timberhaven and Dean to anyone who expresses an interest in a home of this style.

I initially approached Brad Mercer and Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes because of their presence and reputation. Before too long we had a great design with a quality materials package and a concept that truly reflected my needs, wants and desires.  The project turned out bigger and better than anyone would have dreamed.  It was a real pleasure working with Brad and Timberhaven, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about a log home project.

What initially drew me to Timberhaven Log & Timber Homes was their engineered (or laminated) logs. They’re essentially white pine boards that are laminated together then milled into whatever shape you want. Now, the minute I get to my new log home, my blood pressure drops. It’s like we’re on vacation every weekend.

I’ve been building log homes for more than 30 years and the Timberhaven engineered (laminated) logs and beams are the best I’ve built with.  They are straighter, little or no checking, consistent high quality and easy to assemble.

We were impressed with the white pine kiln-dried engineered (laminate) log system that Timberhaven offered – when the logs arrived they were beautiful! John and Gabrial Reed, our sales representatives, have been there with us through the whole process. We are excited to be one of the first Timberhaven homes to be built!

After a previous log home company had left us stranded, Timberhaven Log Homes were able to step in and assist us in making our log home dream a reality. They worked tirelessly to get us what we needed in an expedient timeframe and within our budget. The quality of their product is excellent.
